Desi Radio covers the news from East and West Panjab and West London. We also cover the national news of Great Britain which is of interest to the Panjabi community.
Desi Radio started broadcasting Panjabi News once a week from 2003. We then increased the frequency to twice a week, which was on Thursdays and Sundays. Because we are a volunteer organisation, not many people were interested in devoting their time for News. The reason was that news would take hours for one bulletin of a couple of minutes.
The Panjabi Centre/Desi Radio then recruited one permanent news editor to put together the news on a daily basis. We are now broadcasting the news six days a week except on Saturdays. The news is broadcast from nine in the morning to midnight at every odd hour.
